Models

Models to me are the procedures that we follow or the frameworks to achiever our goals. ADDIE is the foundation for all of these as far as I can tell, but that does not mean ADDIE is always the correct choice. Below you will find the models I like.

ADDIE

Classic for a reason! This tried-and-true model guarantees a comprehensive learning solution. This is a great model for large, high quality projects that require a very controlled process. It can get bogged down in the steps though if not ran correctly.

SAM

No time to waste? SAM's your jam! Iterate quickly for speedy, spot-on learning solutions.

Agile Learning Design (ALD)

Stay flexible, stay relevant! ALD keeps you nimble in the face of change.

Backward Design

Begin with the end in mind! Backward Design ensures laser-focused, results-driven learning.

Action Mapping

Cut the fluff, boost performance! Action Mapping delivers learning that gets results.

Kemp Design Model

Learners are unique! Kemp's model creates personalized, impactful learning experiences.

Dick and Carey Model

Research-backed, reliable results! Dick and Carey's systematic approach guarantees learning success.

5Di Model

Innovate or stagnate! 5Di's design thinking approach sparks creativity and innovation in learning.

The Theories

The theories are the little tricks that are used to get the learners to reach the objectives. It isn't wise to put all your money on one color, so I like to utilize the ones that are most appropriate for the situation. Just like the models. It is a puzzle activity for each unique situation and this is where the fun really starts.

Cognitive Load Theory (CLT)

Don't overload your learners! Chunk info for quick and easy learning.

Constructivism

Ditch boring lectures! Engage learners with hands-on, interactive experiences.

Andragogy

Adults aren't kids (debatable, I know) ! Tailor training to their unique needs for best results.

Situated Learning Theory

Make learning real! Simulate on-the-job challenges for instant application.

Experiential Learning Theory

Practice makes perfect! Let learners do, reflect, and apply for lasting impact.

Social Learning Theory

Harness the power of social influence! Encourage learning through peer interaction and modeling.

Connectivism

Thrive in the digital age! Teach your team to navigate and leverage information networks.

Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction

Foolproof your training! Follow these nine steps for guaranteed success.

Multi-Store Model (Atkinson-Shiffrin Model)

Work with the brain, not against it! Design training that leverages natural memory processes.

Working Memory Model (Baddeley-Hitch Model)

Maximize brain power! Create training that optimizes working memory capacity.

Levels of Processing Theory (Craik-Lockhart Model)

No more surface-level learning! Encourage deep processing for long-term retention.

Schema Theory

No time to waste? SAM's your jam! Iterate quickly for speedy, spot-on learning solutions.

Dual Coding Theory (Paivio)

Double the impact! Combine visuals and words for a powerful learning punch.
